The San Francisco 49ers’ 2018 season was decimated by injuries, making health a priority for the upcoming season. Which players cannot risk getting hurt this year?

The San Francisco 49ers were one of the most injured teams in the league last year, which led to a dismal 2018 season and the firing of the team’s strength and conditioning coach.

For as long as I can remember, San Francisco has had poor luck with the injury bug, especially in head coach Kyle Shanahan’s tenure so far.  It is honestly a miracle how he still pulls off wins and manages to put great offensive showings out on the field while fielding backups.

However, Shanahan himself cannot make up for all these injuries. This team is talented enough to take a leap in 2019. However, if the Niners run into the same injury luck as last year, they will be watching the playoffs on the couch come January.

There have already been a few banged-up players early on, as San Francisco just wrapped up its first week of organized team activities. Fortunately, nothing seems too serious to keep anyone out of the regular season, but it’s something to monitor nonetheless.

Make no mistake, the injuries will come this year, though. However, the success of this upcoming season will depend on which players the injuries decide to target.

Here are the five players who have to stay healthy in 2019 to ensure a successful season for this 49ers team.
