With the 2019 NFL Draft kicking off later today, Niner Noise scours the web to see what rumors and reports may have an effect on the San Francisco 49ers and their draft plans.

Well, it’s finally here… the 2019 NFL Draft.

Almost, at least. We still have a few more hours to go before the San Francisco 49ers make one of 32 first-round selections on day one of the draft.

The actual draft will finally put to rest any and all speculation and NFL rumors that have been circulating for the past few months. Any casual fan should know this time of year is rife with false reports, storytelling and the proverbial “smoke and mirrors” campaigns clogging the news wire.

Still, there are enough reports out there to suggest some interesting things could happen later today and throughout all seven rounds of the NFL Draft itself.

And many could affect the Niners’ plans within the draft, too.

So, with only a few hours to go before the Arizona Cardinals’ number is called to kick off the 2019 draft, Niner Noise takes a look around the internet and compiles the latest noteworthy news and reports on the surface.

49ers Won’t Trade Robbie Gould

Veteran kicker Robbie Gould and the Niners have been at an impasse, when it comes to negotiating a long-term deal this offseason. San Francisco slapped Gould with the franchise tag before free agency, preventing him from hitting the open market, and the two sides have yet to work out a new contract.

Recent reports stated Gould was no longer interested in signing such a deal, instead requesting a trade from the 49ers.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, however, the 49ers have no intention trading Gould, who hasn’t shown up to the team’s voluntary offseason workout program and has yet to sign his franchise tender.

The Niners’ hardball approach makes sense, although it’s always possible they attempt to move Gould at some point during the draft for additional capital.

Regardless, it’s been something of a wrinkle in San Francisco’s offseason.
