NFL Draft 2019: 5 Round 1 trade partners for the 49ers
By Peter Panacy
No. 5: Oakland Raiders
The first possibility seems slim, simply based off the two teams’ histories with each other. Yet there’s enough reason to suggest the future could go against the grain of the past.

The 49ers and Oakland Raiders aren’t trade partners. In fact, the two teams have engaged in just one trade dating back to 1994: a 1996 deal that included two Niners picks in exchange for the Raiders’ second rounder, which was subsequently used on defensive end Israel Ifeanyi.
San Francisco attempted to trade for now-Chicago Bears EDGE Khalil Mack a year ago, yet the Raiders rebuffed John Lynch’s offer.
Still, all that could change in this year’s NFL Draft.
Much of it depends on the wants and desires of Raiders head coach Jon Gruden, who could easily get quarterback happy and look to outreach many of the other teams possibly looking to move up into the top three selections.
Should this be the case, Gruden and Co. have more than enough ammunition, including two additional picks (Nos. 24 and 27) to the No. 4 overall pick. Just one of those could be used to get up two spots, leaving the Niners in an excellent position to still grab one of their top targets, while adding another much-needed late first rounder in the process.
