San Francisco 49ers: 2019 NFL Draft primer with needs and 7-round mock
By Peter Panacy
The San Francisco 49ers hold the No. 2 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the first of six slated selections. Niner Noise breaks down what you’ll need to know for draft day in this all-inclusive primer and preview.
Months of speculation and overanalysis will finally come to a head on Thursday, April 25 when the 2019 NFL Draft kicks off from Nashville, Tennessee.
The San Francisco 49ers own the No. 2 overall pick in this year’s draft which, despite limiting the team to only a handful of realistic choices, has already been the subject of much debate and discussion.
Will the team stay put and grab one of the top two talents in this year’s class? Or will general manager John Lynch trade out of this coveted spot, perhaps enticing one of the numerous quarterback-needy teams to give up a king’s ransom to land a would-be franchise signal-caller?
Lynch has suggested the latter as a possibility.
The final verdict, of course, will be when the Niners’ number is called shortly after 8 p.m. ET on Thursday. We’ll know for sure by that point.
Yet San Francisco has more than just one pressing need and only six picks, currently, with which to work. Lynch has traded out of spots before, so that’s always a likelihood.
For now, however, let’s break down everything you’ll need to know about what the 49ers are planning to do in this year’s draft, what the possible targets will be and then wrapping things up with a full seven-round mock for this year’s NFL Draft class.
First, let’s break down which picks the Niners currently own.
