Stock down: Greedy Williams, Cornerback, LSU

LSU cornerback Greedy Williams, once a popular pick for the 49ers as high as their No. 2 overall, has turned out to be one of those prospects hyped more by the media and the public rather than the scouts.

In fact, Williams seems to be getting a surprising lack of private workouts coming into the draft.

Simply put, it’s mostly down to his tackling. Corners who aren’t willing to put their body on the line do not become high first-round picks.

Williams hasn’t totally torpedoed his draft stock and is still expected to be a first-round pick.

Just not as high as people may think.

Still this creates some intrigue. If teams are scared by his lack of tackling prowess, could he fall out of the first round?

Probably not, but dare to dream.
