Trading down in the 2019 NFL Draft is a possibility for the San Francisco 49ers, and there’s plenty of talent to be had. Niner Noise looks at possibilities from every part of the first round that could join the 49ers roster.

For all the gushing over players at the top of the 2019 NFL Draft, trading down is definitely a potential option for the San Francisco 49ers.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed the possibility remains for the team to be a trading destination for a another team that desires a quarterback. As Niner Noise already reported, an astonishing 10 quarterbacks drafted in the first round dating back to 2016 were the result of a trade.

The one exception to buck this trend was the Cleveland Browns’ Baker Mayfield last year.

Last year, I wrote an article detailing potential selections if the Niners decided to trade. This turned out to be a fun thing, if somewhat eventually moot, since the 49ers did not trade from the pick at all.

So, it only makes sense as we see the draft rapidly approaching, to detail what we may see if the team does trade.

The added benefit is this isn’t just a pointless mock either, since as mentioned above, the 49ers have already publicly acknowledged this possibility.

We can probably rule out the Niners trading up, so we will deal with trade downs only for this year. The picks will be broken down into the following brackets:

Nos. 3 to 5, Nos. 6 to 10, Nos. 11 to 15, Nos. 16 to 20, Nos. 21 to 25 and Nos. 26 to 32.

While we will primarily be dealing with only my selection for the particular area, I’ll also do some honorable mentions at the bottom, since there’s a wide array of choices.

I won’t be naming any actual trades with teams or anything like that, as that’s way too tricky to predict, and you also can’t rule out the possibility of San Francisco making more than one trade in the first round.

Let’s just keep it simple.

So let’s get to it.
