Fred Warner as Grey Worm

Oh, to be captain.

Well, that’s essentially the role the 49ers are envisioning for second-year linebacker Fred Warner, who took over defensive play-calling duties right out of the gate after being selected in Round 3 of the 2018 NFL Draft.

And despite some early tackling issues, Warner has emerged as one of the key leaders and playmakers in San Francisco’s young, budding defense.

When he’s on, it’s fun to watch Warner make plays, too.

Likewise, it’s pretty fun watching the captain of the Unsullied, Grey Worm, who ascended to the rank after his army joined forces with Daenerys Targaryen back in Season 3. Grey Worm is completely dedicated to his craft, perfecting his battlefield techniques and unafraid of getting into the thick of combat.

That sounds a lot like Warner, who ended up leading the 49ers defense with 124 tackles last year.

Chances are, if Grey Worm suited up in the NFL, he’d lead his team in tackles, too.
