Dante Pettis as Syrio Forel

If sword fighting is nothing more than an elaborate dance, Syrio Forel of Braavos is its master.

Forel, of course, educated Arya Stark on the art of the “water dance” back in Season 1, showing her the tricks and tips on using footwork and body positioning to gain the upper edge over bigger, stronger opponents.

And always using the phrase, “There is only one god, and His name is Death. And there is only one thing we say to Death: ‘not today’.”

There’s only one player on the 49ers roster capable of properly teaching the art of such a dance, second-year wide receiver Dante Pettis, whose footwork was among the best of his draft class back in 2018.

If you weren’t sure about Pettis’ footwork and separation skills, just watch his touchdown below:

It gets even better.

Forel told Arya she should study cats, how elusive they are and their footwork.

Judging Pettis’ love of cats, too, it’s pretty easy to make this Game of Thrones comparison:

Oh, and the actor who portrays Forel, Miltos Yerolemou, is actually the guy instructing mock sword fighting in the top photo. Not kidding.
