Dexter Lawrence. 31. player. 51. . Defensive Tackle. Clemson

The Los Angeles Rams would have loved to see Dalton Risner drop to them at No. 31 overall. After all, that offensive line is still pretty old, and center John Sullivan’s void needs to be addressed. Finding a long-term replacement for aging offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth should be a priority, too.

Fortunately, there are plenty of decent options to be had on day two of the NFL Draft, and this particular pick would be well spent filling the void left by defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.

More from SF 49ers Draft

Remember, the Rams relied more on their inside pass rush than most anything from the outside, aside from a solid playoff push from EDGE Dante Fowler, who returns after being picked up from the Jaguars midway through last season.

Before Fowler, Suh and defensive tackle Aaron Donald were the primary ones responsible for generating the pass rush and eliminating all interior runs.

Thankfully, there’s a good prospect to be had here in the draft, Clemson defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence.

Lawrence’s suspension late in the 2018 collegiate season for a banned substance dropped his stock a bit, but it wouldn’t be shocking at all to see him slip back into the final stages of the first round.

And the Rams could use a punisher up front like Lawrence, anyway.
