player. 31. . Quarterback. Duke. Daniel Jones. 17

Ah, yes. The pick the Giants netted after trading away wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns this offseason.

New York missed out on one of the top three signal-callers in this year’s NFL Draft, meaning they’ll have to settle on Duke quarterback Daniel Jones if it wants to address this position early and find Eli Manning’s heir apparent.

Besides, there’s enough smoke going around to suggest the G-Men are interested in Jones at No. 17 anyway.

This would still be a bit of a reach, as most big boards out there list Jones as a day-two prospect, not someone who would end up having his name called in the teens.

But remember, quarterback values always seem to rise leading up to the draft anyway, and one shouldn’t automatically expect Jones to be an exception. Plus, having the Duke prospect work under Manning’s tutelage for at least a year isn’t the worst of situations for a rebuilding Giants squad.
