2019 NFL Draft: Two-round, 32-team mock amid scouting combine
By Peter Panacy
The Detroit Lions are likely going to be moving on from oft-injured veteran EDGE Ezekiel Ansah this offseason after hitting him with the franchise tag a year ago.
It’s possible Detroit waits to address this. After all, some help in the secondary would be wise. So would a prolific pass-catching weapon to boost the efforts from quarterback Matthew Stafford.
Still, finding that regular pass-rusher would be the best thing to do here.
Fortunately, Clemson’s Clelin Ferrell is still available at No. 8 overall. Ferrell is arguably the best all-around EDGE in this year’s NFL Draft after Nick Bosa. Ferrell is equally adept in both the pass rush and in run defense, which makes him an excellent three-down pickup for the Lions defense.
A strong combine could even push Ferrell into the top of the discussion for outside pass-rushers, yet it’s a safe bet he winds up going in the top 10 anyway.
