2019 NFL Draft: Two-round, 32-team mock amid scouting combine
By Peter Panacy
To close out Round 1, the Super Bowl-champion New England Patriots look to beef up a defensive line that could undergo a lot of departures this offseason.
EDGE Trey Flowers is the biggest name to possibly depart. And while the Pats would love to have him back, they also have to think about interior defenders Malcolm Brown and Danny Shelton, who also may hit the open market.
Assuming Flowers returns, it’s likely one of the others leaves. That would open up the door for Notre Dame defensive tackle Jerry Tillery, who has also seen his stock rise from a solid day-two pick into the latter stages of the first round.
Tillery, a classic 3-technique player, has a solid array of pass-rush moves, which would bolster Flowers’ outside rush abilities if he’s re-signed.
The Pats get younger and remain just as potent up front.
