28. . EDGE. Mississippi State. Montez Sweat. 24. player

It seems weird Mississippi State EDGE Montez Sweat managed to fall this late into the NFL Draft, particularly after he impressed so much at the 2019 Senior Bowl.

Raiders head coach Jon Gruden got to observe Sweat’s efforts from across the field, and the latter no doubt caught Gruden’s attention. And after Oakland secured some linebacking needs with its first pick in Round 1, the team then uses a pick acquired from the Chicago Bears in the Khalil Mack trade to supplement the pass rush.

Sweat has seen his stock increase pretty dramatically since the close of 2018, and it wouldn’t be a shock to see him go much higher.

If he does fall, however, it would be silly to expect him to go beyond the Raiders’ pick at No. 24.
