2019 NFL Draft: Two-round, 32-team mock amid scouting combine
By Peter Panacy
The Cincinnati Bengals need to get better on defense at all three levels. And while Cincy already has a standout interior defender in Geno Atkins, finding someone to pair with him and wreak havoc up front would be an ideal situation.
Enter Houston defensive tackle Ed Oliver.
At a time in 2018, Oliver was being viewed as arguably the best prospect in this year’s draft class. His stock slipped somewhat, thanks largely to a knee injury that held him out four games, but he’s still a top interior defender in a deep cast.
Lining up Oliver next to Atkins would be a smart move, which would take pressure off a beleaguered and struggling Bengals secondary that hasn’t seen much of a pass rush in recent years.
Those needs can be addressed later.
