2019 NFL Draft: Two-round, 32-team mock amid scouting combine
By Peter Panacy
Don’t simply assume the Denver Broncos will hold off grabbing a quarterback in this year’s NFL Draft just because they’re trading for veteran signal-caller Joe Flacco, who’ll leave the Baltimore Ravens in the deal.
Yes, this makes the Broncos’ own quarterback, Case Keenum, expendable this offseason. Or, at the very least, it provides general manager John Elway with a contingency plan in the draft if he’s unable to grab the quarterback he wants.
Will Elway finally get his selection right this time?
Considering how thin this year’s quarterbacking class is, let’s assume Denver uses its first pick on an eventual replacement for Flacco. Missouri’s Drew Lock isn’t quite as polished as Dwayne Haskins or Kyler Murray. But with some refinement and development, he might be a capable heir apparent when the Broncos elect to finally move on from Flacco down the road.
