At 6-foot-2 and 310 pounds, Mississippi State interior lineman Deion “Shaq” Calhoun will be fighting an uphill battle, in terms of NFL Draft stock, with regards to his size. This has largely relegated him to being viewed a seventh-round draft target, possibly even an undrafted free agent, according to NFL Draft Scout.

Yet a solid NFL Scouting Combine performance could entice a team like the 49ers to consider him as a day-three option.

Calhoun, who started 13 games at right guard for Mississippi State in 2018, managed a solid 5.07 40-yard time with 26 bench-press reps at 225 pounds. On top of that, his 28.5-inch vertical leap isn’t the worst, when you consider his shorter stature.

Like most late-round O-line draft prospects, Calhoun will need plenty of refinement at the next level. He does showcase a solid ability to block in space, however, and it’s that kind of trait that could make him attractive to a team like San Francisco in the late rounds.

Either way, his combine efforts likely improved his draft stock.
