No. 1: EDGE Nick Bosa

It should come as no real surprise that EDGE Nick Bosa scores the No. 1 spot among players the 49ers must add in the 2019 NFL Draft. As one of the draft’s premier players, should he be available come the 49ers’ pick, they would and should select him.

And the possibility of this is becoming more and more likely, with reports circulating that the Arizona Cardinals, who own the No. 1 overall pick in the draft, may indeed look to defensive tackle Quinnen Williams to fill their needs.

While this is obviously no guarantee, it is great news for 49ers fans who had lost hope after losing the No. 1 pick to the Cardinals. Out of Ohio State, Bosa measures at 6-foot-4 and 263 pounds. Playing in only three games in 2018 after sustaining an abdominal injury, Bosa recorded a combined 14 tackles, including six for a loss and four sacks.

His explosiveness off the edge and ability to break through defenders is something the 49ers are in desperate need of. Along with the speed and power that he brings, Bosa has all the skills necessary to truly succeed in the NFL.

With Bosa lining up on the edge, alongside defensive linemen DeForest Buckner and Solomon Thomas on the interior, the 49ers might just be able to bring an effective pass rush and apply the pressure to opposing quarterbacks.
