NFL power rankings: Post-Super Bowl 53 wrap-up for 32 teams
By Peter Panacy
The Philadelphia Eagles weren’t quite able to continue their playoff-magic run from 2018 into 2019, falling short to the New Orleans Saints in the NFC divisional round.
Quarterback Nick Foles is still a nice backup. And with ongoing injury concerns surrounding No. 1 QB Carson Wentz, having Foles in the fray is a good problem to have. Let’s see how long that continues, though.
The Eagles are still a top team to watch in the NFC East. When it’s on, that defense can be immovable. Yet it has some problems to watch this offseason. Defensive end Brandon Graham, an unheralded-yet-crucial contributor, is hitting free agency. There are upgrades needed in the secondary as well.
On the offensive side of the ball, look for Philly to find a long-term replacement for veteran left tackle Jason Peters, while also looking to find a solid presence in the backfield at running back.
There are a few pieces needing to be changed out. But with a sizable majority of the right pieces in place, the Eagles hang on to being within the top 10 of our NFL power rankings.
