The Vikings fell back a level in 2018. No longer that special team of 2017, a number of holes started to pop up. And there will be some pressing questions to answer on both sides of the ball.

Defensively, Minnesota has to start thinking about what to do with the front seven. Linebacker Anthony Barr is hitting free agency, although it will be hard to envision the Vikings letting him go. But if he’s re-signed, it will be tough for the Vikings to bring back defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson.

Richardson, an excellent run stopper, opens up a void. That said, Minnesota’s defense is still pretty solid all around. Losing a player like Richardson isn’t terrible.

Instead, the bigger problem is up front along the offensive line. Injuries played a big role here, yet there are still multiple positions needing help. Kansas State offensive tackle Dalton Risner has seen his NFL Draft stock rise in recent weeks, easily the best O-line prospect behind Jonah Williams.

Risner is capable of playing both outside and on the interior, and he’d be a plug-and-play option right away.
