The San Francisco 49ers have not been beacons of success in the NFL for some years, but Niner Noise believes there are some signs that the team could leap from cellar dwellers to Super Bowl contenders in the near future.

Going 4-12, the second worst record in the league, yet another year of drafting inside the top 10. You could be forgiven for being pessimistic of the potential of the San Francisco 49ers for the immediate future.

But I’m an optimist, and I think there are definite signs of the 49ers punching above their weight in the future.

A lot of this has to do with the very careful rebuilding process under the John Lynch/Kyle Shanahan era, which has involved an almost total roster turnover while adapting a much more attractive style of play.

This season, the team was essentially cursed from the beginning and the Niners weren’t able to get any momentum going. Lady luck always changes, eventually, and all the 49ers need is a nudge in the right direction.

So here are five reasons why the 49ers can head to the top sooner rather than later, contending for a Super Bowl title in 2020.
