The San Francisco 49ers have a storied existence since being founded in 1946, which includes five Super Bowl trophies and countless iconic playoff games. Niner Noise takes a look at the top 10 playoff games in franchise history.

The San Francisco 49ers have won 31 playoff games in their history, which ranks fifth all time among all NFL teams. The Pittsburgh Steelers have the most at 35.

From their formation, the Niners have created many memorable moments and games in the playoffs, and have been led by some of the greatest playoff coaches in history in Bill Walsh and George Seifert.

The 49ers of the 1980s were named team of the decade earning four Super Bowl titles, and though the 1990s were not as good, there were some great playoff games played, which included one Super Bowl trophy.

The Niners have had many of the best playoff players of all time, such as quarterbacks Joe Montana and Steve Young, and wide receivers Jerry Rice and Terrell Owens. These players hold numerous postseason and Super Bowl records, and played a large part in the 49ers postseason successes.

Playoff games will be ranked by how memorable they were, how dominant the San Francisco was at the time and how the playoff game impacted the franchise. For this exercise, only playoff games since 1980 are included on this list. Human nature will appear in some cases because, well, we all have playoff games that we find more memorable than others.
