Pick 162: Antoine Wesley, Wide Receiver, Texas Tech

Previous pick: Sean Rawlings, Center, Ole Miss

The San Francisco 49ers are in the market for a big-bodied receiver to serve as a threat in the red zone. Texas Tech wide receiver Antoine Wesley could be an absolute steal if the wideout is available this late in the draft.

Despite not being on the scouting radar to begin the 2018 college season, Wesley broke out in his junior year, and became one of the best receivers in the college ranks.

While the Big 12 is a pass-friendly conference which tends to inflate receiving stats a bit, Wesley caught an impressive 88 passes for 1,410 receiving yards and 9 touchdowns on the season.

Wesley measures in at an impressive combination of 6-foot-5 and 200 pounds, and while he could perhaps bulk up a little prior to entering the NFL, his big year in 2018 has made him a draftable prospect.

Teams do have concerns related to Wesley’s speed, which the wide receiver will look to address at the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine. However, Wesley’s combination of size and junior-season production makes him an intriguing prospect for the San Francisco 49ers in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
