No. 1: With no activity and Arizona passing on a quarterback the 49ers make their selection

Like each draft preceding it, the 2019 NFL Draft will have its strengths and weaknesses. Thus far, this draft appears it will be weak on elite-level quarterback prospects. Balancing the scale is a strong class of defensive players. Especially along the defensive line. This plays into the immediate need of the 49ers.

Perhaps the most likely scenario is that the Cardinals do not take another quarterback with their first overall selection and the 49ers do not trade down.

While boring, it still provides San Francisco the chance to acquire some fantastic prospects.

While Kentucky EDGE Josh Allen fits the pass-rushing need for the 49ers, it can be argued that Alabama defensive tackle Quinnen Williams is the best available player.

Always take the best available player.
