5 top cornerbacks the 49ers can pursue in the 2019 NFL Draft
No. 5: Amani Oruwariye
Coming in at No. 5 is Amani Oruwariye out of Penn State. The 6-foot-1, 204-pound corner had his most productive season his senior year. He tallied up a total of 50 tackles, three interceptions and one forced fumble. Along with his 11 passes defended.
The Draft Network reported:
"Oruwariye’s size, length, strength and ball skills make him an ideal fit as an outside zone/press corner. Complementing his impressive stature is a trust for his technique and outstanding processing skills. Oruwariye has the traits needed to matchup with “X” receivers in man coverage, making him a scheme-versatile defender. Oruwariye has the upside to start early in his career on the boundary and emerge as a productive playmaker with his ability to make game-changing plays on the football."
Oruwariye has been projected to go anywhere from as high as Round 1 all the way down to Round 5. With his size and length likely being attractive to teams, expect him to go higher than lower.
The Niners need help in the secondary covering “X” receivers and Oruwariye may just be their man. He is a player the 49ers may look at taking in the second round.
