San Francisco 49ers: Power ranking the top 30 players of 2018
By Aaron Tan
Then-second string quarterback C.J. Beathard was thrust in the starting role in the wake of Jimmy Garoppolo’s torn ACL injury. Beathard actually played well against the Los Angeles Chargers and Green Bay Packers, showing off his solid deep accuracy and toughness, but was incredibly sub par in his three games against the Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Rams.
Beathard is a competent NFL backup, who can hold down the fort for a couple of weeks, but is not the long-term answer at quarterback for any team.
He plays the game with a lack of pocket awareness and is extremely slow and sluggish on the field.
