3. team. 42. . . . Cornerback Richard Sherman

Many people questioned the Richard Sherman signing back in March. A 30-year-old cornerback coming off of a torn Achilles is less than ideal. But, man, did Sherman prove his doubters wrong this season.

For the entire year, the ex-Seahawk completely shut down his side of the field and looked like the same cornerback 49ers fans used to hate when he was in his prime.

This is by far the best free-agent signing John Lynch has made since he arrived in San Francisco. Sherman has not only played well enough to maintain his spot as one of the best cornerbacks in the league, but has also taken it upon himself to mentor younger defensive backs on the team.

2014 me would’ve never thought I would say this, but we love you, Uncle Sherm.
