San Francisco 49ers: Power ranking the top 30 players of 2018
By Aaron Tan
Prior to the season, I did not think perennial special teams contributor Raheem Mostert was a good running back. I viewed him as a mere backup, who had ball security issues and was ineffective running the ball. I did want him to make the team because he is a special teams ace, but did not want him getting snaps at running back.
However, I’m glad that Mostert proved me wrong this season.
He was incredibly effective filling in for starting running back Matt Breida at times, averaging 7.68 yards per carry and leading the team in that category. The former Purdue star has flourished in head coach Kyle Shanahan’s system and adds to the strong running back depth of this team.
