No. 3: Safety Tre Boston

Half a year ago, I wrote an article listing some free agents that the Niners should sign ahead of the 2018 season. Rounding out the list was Tre Boston, who was arguably the most underrated safety in the league at the time and still is now.

Boston ended up signing with the Cardinals, and to no surprise, ended up being one of the best players on Arizona’s underrated defensive unit. The 26-year-old safety graded out with a solid 71.8 from Pro Football Focus and is third in tackles on the team. Due to the extremely shorthanded safety depth that the 49ers have right now, bringing in Boston is a no-brainer. He would slide in as a great depth piece, if not more, and the best thing is that he would be cheap.

The front office made a mistake by glossing over Boston last year. Let’s hope they don’t make that same mistake again.
