No. 5: The No. 2 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft is a lock

Unless someone approaches the 49ers and offers considerable compensation in order to trade up, the Niners have the No. 2 overall pick locked down.

The result weighed very much on the Dallas Cowboys beating out the New York Giants and the Atlanta Falcons getting the win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which both teams kindly did. With that, the 49ers secured the No. 2 pick over the New York Jets, who have moved down to third pick.

While it wasn’t the season any 49ers players or fans were hoping for, a high-round draft pick is at least a pretty good consolation prize. With the rebuild continuing, some top-tier talent will be able to be added to the depth chart in the form of a much-needed edge rusher.

Unless the 49ers unexpectedly surprise everyone and go for a player out of left field.

Whether the Arizona Cardinals decide to take Ohio State EDGE Nick Bosa at No. 1 is something we will just have to wait and see.
