No. 2: Wide Receiver Dante Pettis vs. Seahawks Secondary

There wasn’t a whole lot of good from the 49ers’ trip to Seattle. But wide receiver Dante Pettis‘ Week 13 performance was good.

Pretty darned good, all things considered.

Pettis finished that game with five catches for 129 yards and two touchdowns, doing plenty of damage in the state where he played his college ball at the University of Washington. And over the past three weeks, Pettis has averaged 85 receiving yards per game and recorded four touchdown grabs during that same span.

It’s looking as if he’s emerging as a legitimate weapon for Kyle Shanahan’s passing attack.

With veteran wide receiver Pierre Garçon (knee) landing on injured reserve, Pettis will continue to assume starter’s snaps for the rest of the season. And it will be critical for San Francisco’s offense to see if Pettis can continue his recent hot streak.

The Seahawks are allowing an average of 6.7 yards per pass, good for 21st in the NFL this season.
