49. . EDGE. Florida State. Brian Burns. 30. player

The Packers picked up this pick from the New Orleans Saints in the 2017 NFL Draft trade-up involving EDGE Marcus Davenport.

And after addressing needs in the secondary by grabbing Deionte Thompson, the Packers look to find some outside pass-rushing help by selecting Florida State EDGE Brian Burns at No. 30.

Green Bay has received some solid pass-rush numbers from linebacker Kyler Fackrell and defensive lineman Kenny Clark. But with linebacker Clay Matthews hitting the latter stages of his career and in a contract year, the Packers are yet another defense looking to get both younger and more dynamic.

Florida State EDGE Brian Burns has seen his NFL Draft stock rise from a solid Round 2 pickup all the way to a fringe first rounder.

Burns’ steakiness and hit-or-miss abilities prevent him from being one of the surefire pass-rushers seen earlier in this year’s draft class.

Yet he has enough upside to justify the first-round selection for Green Bay.
