The Minnesota Vikings would ideally like to have a starting-caliber offensive lineman drop into their collective laps here at No. 25. Instead, that’s a need tabled for later rounds.

Defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson has been a nice pickup. But he’s poised to be a free agent this offseason, and it wouldn’t be a shock if he commands a nice contract on the open market. Instead, the Vikings look to get both younger and cheaper here by selecting Clemson defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence.

Along with Clelin Ferrell and Christian Wilkins, Lawrence has combined to make Clemson’s defensive line one of the best in college football right now. Lawrence isn’t quite refined just yet. But the pure abilities he displays on the field are enough to make nearly every defensive coordinator salivate.

Finding a massive presence in a player like Lawrence would be a gift for an already-good Vikings defense.
