No. 3: Offensive Tackle Mike McGlinchey

The ninth overall draft pick for the 49ers, right tackle Mike McGlinchey is no stranger to lists touting his excellent performances week in and week out.

Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers was no different. While the 49ers interior offensive line seemed to have trouble at times with players, like defensive tackles Gerald McCoy and Vita Vea, McGlinchey was stout for the most part. Road-grading on running plays, improving in pass protection and excelling at pulling outside and lining up backers on sweeps and screen plays for big hits.

His agility, no doubt his most surprising attribute, there is not much McGlinchey can’t do. Even more exciting is his potential. A 24-year-old rookie, it may not be long before he becomes recognized as one of the league’s elite blockers.
