The Recap

So, out of the second overall pick, the 49ers received a part-time edge defender, who is exceptional at the run and raw against the pass, a starting free safety, a depth wide receiver and their starting middle linebacker.

There was one failure there, Reuben Foster, but overall, that is a very good pull out of a trade, especially considering how all of these players have shown tremendous potential.

For one pick, the 49ers basically stocked up three to four positions.

I’m not arguing for always trading down. If the 49ers could have taken now-Cleveland Browns EDGE Myles Garrett, they should have drafted him as soon as possible. But it is very hard to see the full extent of a trade when you take a simple glance.

By taking a deeper look at it, you see the true impact that it brings.
