San Francisco 49ers: Top 10 plays from 2018, Weeks 1 through 10

49ers top play No. 6
In Breida’s second appearance on our top 10 list, the dual-threat back shows off his receiving skills as he lines up as a wide receiver.
On a key third down play in the second half of San Francisco’s Monday Night Football matchup with the New York Giants, Shanahan sent 11 personnel onto the field, but lined the eligible receivers up in an odd shotgun formation.
With Goodwin as the “tight end” and the lone receiving option on the short side of the field, Brieda lined up in the slot, tight to the formation.
The 49ers ran the mesh concept to perfection, as linebacker Alec Ogletree had to fight through his fellow defenders and the opposing receivers in a failed attempt to catch Breida, who broke open across the formation. Cornerback Janoris Jenkins was caught out of position as he keyed on Goodwin, which left the front corner of the end zone unmanned.
As Mullens went through his progressions, he eventually looked left and then fired the ball high and outside of Breida and the two Giants defenders. Breida went up and caught the bullet pass for an 11-yard touchdown reception — his second touchdown of the game — which put the 49ers up by two scores:
