The San Francisco 49ers have indicated the final six games of the 2018 schedule could feature different lineups, meaning some well-known players may be cut this offseason.

Change is coming for the San Francisco 49ers over the final stretch of 2018.

After a disappointing 27-23 Monday Night Football loss to the New York Giants in Week 10, followed by the team’s bye week and amounting to a 2-8 record this deep into the season, Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan has hinted at some serious roster changes to finish out the final six games on San Francisco’s calendar.

“I told our rookies, we had a lot of rookies finish the year last year on a really high note and it gave us a lot of confidence in some of those guys coming into this year,” Shanahan said, via Niners Wire’s Kyle Madson. “And some of those guys got better or worse in Week 1 and through this year. Some have gone the right direction, some haven’t. Very well aware of that. And that’s stuff I’ll look into for these six games. Who is going to help lead us into next year? Who is going to help finish us this year?”

It certainly sounds like some depth moves are going to be made. And why wouldn’t they? With a plethora of roster shortcomings, there’s no better time than the present to see which depth players and backups may be worth keeping around into 2019.

With the inevitable open market that is free agency and the stockpiling of rookie talent in the 2019 NFL Draft now at the forefront of the team’s long-term plans, Shanahan and Co. will use this final stretch of games to make some serious evaluation.

As a result, there are going to be some players who no longer find themselves a part of the 49ers future carrying into next year.

Some are going to be as a result of substandard performances, while others may merely be let go by circumstance.

At any rate, here are five such players who may no longer call Santa Clara home by the time the 2019 season rolls around.
