49ers injury news

Given the team’s short turnaround from Sunday to Thursday night, the 49ers will be forced to rest some of their starters who are actively recovering from injury. Since San Francisco didn’t hold any full practices this week, there’s significantly more “question” as to the true status of any player who is officially listed as questionable for tonight’s game.

The biggest question of the week will be the status of the 49ers’ starting quarterback. Beathard will be a game-time decision, and if Mullens is forced into action, he unfortunately won’t have the advantage of a full week of practice reps:

San Francisco will be forced to play without WILL linebacker Reuben Foster, who is officially sidelined due to a hamstring injury, although he’s obviously working through a shoulder injury as well. Foster will be replaced with either backup WILL linebacker Elijah Lee or SAM linebacker Malcolm Smith.

With starting safety Jaquiski Tartt out with a shoulder injury and defensive back Antone Exum sidelined due to a concussion, DB Tyvis Powell could be forced into a starting role.

Cornerback Richard Sherman is questionable tonight after playing on Sunday in Arizona. Last week, Sherman told reporters his calf injury would make it difficult to play in both games.

Center Weston Richburg was missed last week — particularly on the last play of the game — and is questionable to return for Thursday Night Football.

Running backs Matt Breida and Raheem Mostert are both questionable with ankle injuries, but are expected to play.

Wide receiver Pierre Garcon is less likely to suit up today, although he’s also officially listed as questionable.

49ers injury news will be updated throughout the day, as information is released.
