49ers injury news

The San Francisco 49ers’ list of injured players is shorter in Week 8, but unfortunately for the Niners, a number of key players are questionable — or worse — for Sunday’s game.

49ers wide receiver Pierre Garcon is officially listed as doubtful on the 49ers’ official injury report, but the wideout will sit out of today’s game, as NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco reported Garcon didn’t make the trip to Arizona with the team. Garcon will be replaced by rookie wideout Dante Pettis, who will return after a three game absence. Update: Garcon is inactive.

Starting running back Matt Breida hopes to suit up on Sunday, despite the fact that the second-year running back is forced to miss time nearly each week due to injury. If Brieda can’t play, fellow running back Raheem Mostert will likely see increased playing time. Update: Breida is active, but may be on a snap count.

49ers top cornerback Richard Sherman recently stated his calf injury will make it difficult for the CB to recover in time for next Thursday’s game against the Oakland Raiders if he chooses to play today against Arizona. After missing last week’s game, Sherman is officially listed as questionable for Sunday. Update: Sherman is active.

The last key starter who is questionable for the Niners’ Week 8 matchup is center Weston Richburg, who has yet to miss a game this season. However, after missing practice on Thursday and Friday, the 49ers’ starting center could be a true game-time decision. Update: Richburg is inactive.

49ers injury news will be updated throughout the day, as information is released.
