3. Derrick Brown, Defensive Tackle, Auburn

Admittedly, defensive tackle is not the biggest problem on the defensive front for the 49ers.

But I am a huge advocate of going for skill over need early in a draft. The best player should be taken.

Derrick Brown has been a monster in the interior for Auburn, and he would be a great complement for DeForest Buckner.

Don’t be fooled by him only recording two sacks so far this season, Brown has been way more disruptive than the stats say.

Brown often plays against double teams and has played well against LSU and Washington. He’s young, but plays with a maturity and football IQ beyond his years. He’s powerful, and could provide an interior rush, while Buckner kicks over to the edge on passing downs.
