While approaching the halfway point of the season, it’s clear the San Francisco 49ers will probably be picking in the first few picks of the 2019 NFL Draft. Here are five potential candidates so far.

It’s never fun for fan to see the San Francisco 49ers get smacked around on the field, and even less when it’s from your historical arch nemesis at home at Levi’s Stadium.

Unfortunately, the heavy 39-10 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 7 shows that, injuries aside, there is a lot of work left to be done for this still-rebuilding Niners squad that now sits at 1-6 on the season.

In what can be described only as a happy coincidence, the worst part of the 49ers (the pass rush outside of defensive tackle DeForest Buckner) is also the incredibly strong part of the upcoming 2019 NFL Draft class.

So that’s good, right? San Francisco’s biggest weakness is the upcoming draft’s biggest pool.

But it isn’t just on the defensive line that the 49ers could find their next big star. While it is essentially defensive line versus everyone else competing for a first-round selection this year, there are some other positional prospects that could pique the 49ers’ interest as well.

Here are five Round 1 prospects the Niners and their fans should pay attention between now and April’s NFL Draft.
