Iowa State. David Montgomery. 25. player. 28. . Running Back

Ah, yes. The pick the Raiders acquired from the Chicago Bears in the Khalil Mack deal.

At least that’s a bonus for Jon Gruden and Co. And it isn’t as if Oakland could use all the help it can get on both sides of the ball.

Having gone defense with their first selection, the Raiders elect to find their next running back to replacing aging veteran Marshawn Lynch, who obviously won’t be a part of the team’s move to Las Vegas. Lynch is in a contract year anyway.

A wide receiver could make sense, particularly if Oakland moves former first-round draftee Amari Cooper anytime soon. But finding some prowess on the ground could be vital.

This is where Iowa State running back David Montgomery comes in — a pure three-down tailback, who’d easily make quarterback Derek Carr’s life easier, as this pick would help open up the passing game.
