NFL power rankings: Close isn’t enough for 49ers entering Week 5
By Peter Panacy
The Detroit Lions may have pulled off a surprising victory over the New England Patriots last week. But that’s history, and their loss in Week 4 on the road to the Dallas Cowboys puts first-year head coach Matt Patricia back into the well-deserved “frustrated list.”
Detroit didn’t have any answers for Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott, but Patricia’s defense still held onto a one-point lead just before the two-minute mark in the fourth quarter.
That lead evaporated, though, as the Cowboys were able to enact a nine-play, 55-yard drive that culminated in a game-winning field goal to send Detroit to 1-3 on the season.
At least quarterback Matthew Stafford was brilliant, tossing for over 300 yards and two touchdowns. He and wide receiver Golden Tate deserved the win for their efforts.
Those gray uniforms need to go away, by the way.
