C.J. Beathard’s Stat Predictions in Week 4

The Chargers rank 25th in total yardage allowed to opposing quarterbacks (815). It’s about as skewed as possible in both directions, considering L.A. had to face off against arguably the league’s top two offenses in Weeks 1 and 3 in the Chiefs and Rams, respectively. But then there’s the Week 2 matchup versus the Buffalo Bills, so there’s that.

Chargers safety Derwin James is a player C.J. Beathard will have to avoid on Sunday, as the rookie already leads L.A. with four passes defended and an interception.

This will likely lead to a lot of throws underneath for Beathard, which is something he moderately excelled at his rookie season. But that might not be enough to make a huge difference.

One might expect Kyle Shanahan to put more pressure on Matt Breida and the ground game, leading to fewer passing attempts from Beathard and lesser overall numbers.

There’s no real formula to this prediction, but a line one might expect from the quarterback in Week 4 might read like this — 17-of-28 for 205 yards, a touchdown against two interceptions.

Let’s hope the number of sacks taken is lower than five, shall we?
