No. 3: Cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon

Second-year cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon has been one of the biggest team disappointments of the year so far.

He gave up long touchdowns to Stefon Diggs, Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones in the first two weeks of the season, and continued to get picked on by the quarterback in Week 3.

Witherspoon is nursing an ankle injury, so that could be a factor in why he is playing so badly. If the ankle injury is actually not hampering him and is just an excuse for his poor performance, then the former third-round pick is not looking like the cornerback of the future for this team, which he was advertised as in the offseason.

This week, Witherspoon will face two lethal receivers in Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. If the cornerback continues to give up big gains to his coverage assignments, the 49ers defense will have another long day.
