49ers vs. Chiefs: Week 3 preview for San Francisco
By Chris Wilson
49ers injury news
After missing practice on Thursday due to a heel injury, 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman was a full participant during Friday’s practice, and was removed from the Niners’ final official injury report yesterday.
While Goodwin returned to practice on Wednesday, he was limited for the remainder of the week, and is officially listed as questionable for Sunday’s game. Goodwin continues to recover from a leg injury he sustained during the beginning of San Francisco’s Week 1 game. If Goodwin can’t suit up, rookie wideout Dante Pettis would again start in his place.
49ers strong safety Jaquiski Tartt was absent from practice until Friday, when he was a limited participant. Tartt is also officially listed as questionable for Sunday, due to a shoulder injury from last week’s matchup against the Lions. If Tartt is unable to play, defensive backs Antone Exum, Tyvis Powell or D.J. Reed could get the start for San Francisco, after receiving extra reps at the position during the week.
Right guard Michael Person was limited all week with his ongoing toe injury, but is expected to start for the team on Sunday.
Cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon continues to nurse ankle and hip injuries, but was a full participant at practice on Friday. Even if he starts in tomorrow’s game, Witherspoon could potentially share time with defensive back Jimmie Ward on the outside, after the pair split snaps last Sunday.
Finally, blocking tight end Cole Wick was limited in Friday’s practice, but should be ready for Sunday’s matchup in Kansas City.
49ers injury news will be updated throughout the day, as information is released.
