NFL power rankings: 32-team overreactions heading into Week 2
By Peter Panacy
The Lions may just want to forget their Monday night performance at home versus the Jets. Quarterback Matthew Stafford was banged up. So was running back LeGarrett Blount. And Stafford’s passing efforts weren’t particularly inspiring either, especially after yet another Opening Day pick-six interception thrown.
And where have you heard this before — Detroit couldn’t get much going in the running game.
That certainly didn’t help Stafford’s efforts at all, and the overall performances from first-year head coach Matt Patricia’s squad were pretty ugly to put things lightly.
Offense, bad. Defense, bad. Special teams, bad. Things fell apart quickly after halftime. And then some.
Then more some.
It’s too soon to write off the Lions and drop them down to the depths of our NFL power rankings. But we’ll see if things get worse as they travel to San Francisco on a short week to take on the 49ers.
