Stock down: Jimmie Ward

Sigh.

We all know the truth, defensive back Jimmie Ward is the most maligned player on the entire roster.

I’m not as down on him as most, I do think he can play an important role on this team.

But these constant injuries are not the way to that role.

Ward is a confirmed out for the 49ers last preseason game, and will be going into the regular season decidedly in very poor form and with questions about how much he’ll contribute to the team.

Ward will probably make the final roster, due to his ability to play multiple positions within the 49ers secondary, but his future with the team beyond this season has a very big question mark.
