Offensive Line (8): Joe Staley, Laken Tomlinson, Weston Richburg, Joshua Garnett, Mike McGlinchey, Mike Person, Erik Magnuson, Garry Gilliam

People say that the offensive line is one of the weakest positions on the team, but when you look at that starting lineup, it’s actually pretty solid.

Left tackle Joe Staley hasn’t lost a step and is always consistent and reliable. Laken Tomlinson has embraced the change of scenery and has played well at guard since being labeled as a bust in Detroit. Center Weston Richburg is a great fit for Kyle Shanahan’s zone-blocking scheme and played particularly well in the run game against Indianapolis. Fellow guard Joshua Garnett has completely flipped his roster chances around in the preseason, going from the mediocre injury-prone bust to the demolishing run blocker he was back at Stanford.

And right tackle Mike McGlinchey has played extremely well and outplayed expectations as the team’s most recent first-round pick.

Mike Person, Erik Magnuson and Gary Gilliam should make the team as backups. Person and Magnuson have outplayed Jonathan Cooper at guard by a lot and also possess the versatility to play offensive tackle. Gilliam is not a great option but is the best backup with the true position of offensive tackle.

This offensive line lacks some depth. But as long as the starters are healthy, this offense should be more than fine.
