Safety (4): Adrian Colbert, Jaquiski Tartt, Chanceller James, Marcell Harris

Editor’s Note: Chanceller James has since been waived after the 49ers signed Ja’Guan Gardner to bolster running back depth.

At this time last year, Adrian Colbert was a seventh-round rookie safety who was not a lock to make the roster.

Fast forward a year and he is starting at strong safety and a valuable commodity for this team. He will pair up with Jaquiski Tartt, another great safety, to form one of the potentially best pairs of safeties in the league.

However, they don’t have much depth behind them. Chanceller James and Marcell Harris are unproven, to say the least. They are just young players that the front office likes and are holding onto their spots on the team because of that.

If either Colbert or Tartt get hurt, this position may have some problems.
