Tight ends:

Cole Hikutini: Strong chance

Cole Wick: Long shot

Ross Dwelley: Long shot

Wes Saxton: Long shot

This is an easy one. Cole Hikutini seems poised to be the third tight end for the 49ers, and has been more than serviceable in preseason.

He doesn’t have a lot of pressure from the rest of the names on the depth chart, and it should be a simple decision for the 49ers front office.

Post-game analysis:

This was not a game for tight ends, with Cole Wick the only man to even record a reception on the above list. This won’t change Hikutini being the third tight end, as even though Wick was targeted by Garoppolo, Hikutini was targeted twice in the end zone (dropping a would-be touchdown).
